James was born in Galway and has relatives there for many years. He was educated in Galway at St Mary’s College and later qualified at the University of Galway with a BA in English, History and Economics. He became a Teacher of English and History for many years.
Later he travelled abroad and worked overseas in the United Arab Emirates teaching English to Emrati students at the Oil Company and later still with the Air Force Training College at Al Ain in the UAE where he enjoyed great success and was in charge of examinations.
He returned to Ireland in 2003 and set up home in Kinvara County Galway. He was employed as a Teacher for some years in Galway and Clare before turning again to ESL for Spanish students from 2009 to 2023 He qualified as a Tour Guide in 2019 an has joined the Galway Tour Guides Association (GTGA) to carry out important tours in Galway city, county and all along the west coast of the Wild Atlantic Way. His full profile is on the ATGI Webpage and holds a badge of ATGI. At present he is Secretary of GTGA and keeps minutes of the activities of the group. He has attended the Sustainability Meetings and keeps the group informed of developments there with various companies. He is very interested in the Arts and has written a song about Galway city called Galway Glory to be heard on Sound Cloud anytime for Literary Tours of Galway. He has also written some poems inspired by the Galway and Clare landscape and scenery.
